Social media tools: Amplify your voice
Enjoying using Amplify a lot.
Here is my home page: http://jimmygreer.amplify.com
Idea is a clip log that is much easier than a post. You simply download the plugin and hit the amplify button in your browser when you are on a webpage you like.
You can then select the areas of text that you want to be included then tag it and it automatically tweets it, using bit.ly if you so choose.
I am a huge fan of online bookmark service delicious – check www.delicious.com/jimmygreer if you dont use it you should, but I think Amplify is a great friend for twitter as you can add a bit more comment, highlight the relevant info only, provide a comment space and do some sharing.
Its a bit like Seth Godin’s Squidoo where users create a ‘lens’
Companies using Amplify to get dialogue going w/stakeholders?
Think this is a good free tool for companies to get their message out there and test the water -rather than build a costly site to comment on – create a social object, send it around and see what happens. It is also quite a good tool to use to demonstrate what you can do to senior management ectetc.
BENS:
- so simple with firefox plugin
- categorize and store your links in a different way to delicious
- Space for comment
- tags and categories
- customizable CSS
CONS:
- is it just another layer? Not sure (though am fledgling user)
- is it just a blog post?
- can post to facebook and twitter but cant cross post to wordpress (though widget available which im gonna test out)
Anyone using it or got tips for anything else that is similar – would be interested to know people think.
